Delivery around the World
Currently, TAFE NSW Western Sydney has partnership agreements in several countries for the delivery of TAFE NSW qualifications and customised vocational education and training (VET) programs. Examples include:
- Fiji (Suva, Nadi, Lautoka, Labasa, Sigatoka, and Rakiraki) Courses - Tourism, Hospitality, Management, Marketing, Accounting, Information Technology
- Malaysia (Penang) Course – Accounting
- New Zealand (Auckland) Course – Optical Dispensing
- People’s Republic of China (Hong Kong Special Administrative Region) Courses – Tourism and Hospitality
- People’s Republic of China (Shanghai, Chengdu and Ningbo) Courses – English, IT, Accounting, Marketing and Logistic
- Kingdom of Bahrain (Bahrain) Course – Dental Assisting
- United Arab Emirates (Abu Dhabi) Courses – Fitness and Medical Coding
China - Chengdu Industrial Vocational Technical College (CIVTC)
TAFE WSI International established business connection with Chengdu Industrial Vocational Technical College (CIVTC) in 2012 to plan for joint delivery of TAFE NSW qualifications to students in Chengdu, China in line with the vision of Chengdu Education Bureau which is to match more than 20% of its vocational programs with internationally recognised professional qualifications by 2020.
A range of collaboration including teachers professional development and delivery of TAFE English programs at CIVTC have been implemented ever since. In early 2016 WSI trainers conducted Certificate IV Training and Assessments to teachers of CIVTC. The joint delivery partnership is being undertaken for scheduled commencement in September 2016.
Fiji - Fiji National University
Fiji National University (FNU) is the largest and first national university in Fiji. More than 1600 University staff are located at campuses spread across towns around the country and offer a wide range of programmes from certificate to postgraduate degrees.
FNU retains an orientation towards technical and vocational training, with a focus on qualifications for real jobs and real opportunities for entrepreneurship and self employment, while providing pathways to further professional studies and higher qualifications.
Malaysia - INTI International College Penang
TAFE NSW - Western Sydney Institute’s distance delivery arm, the Open Training and Education Network (OTEN), is proud of its long standing relationship with INTI International College, Penang. The focus of the partnership is to provide a cooperative academic program and world class education to Malaysian students who wish to obtain an Australian national qualification in the Advanced Diploma of Accounting. OTEN resources have been customized and are used in the College classrooms in Penang. TAFE NSW teachers from WSI/OTEN visit Malaysia regularly to provide on-going support and quality assurance of program delivery. The program has successfully operated for over 15 years. It provides Malaysian students with an internationally recognized Accounting qualification and pathway to further study in Australian universities in both Malaysia and Australia.
China - Ningbo City College of Vocational Technology / Ningbo Foreign Affairs School
In partnership with Ningbo City College of Vocational Technology (NCC) and Ningbo Foreign Affairs School (NBFAS), Western Sydney Institute (WSI) has delivered TAFE NSW qualifications to local Chinese students since 2011. The focus of this partnership is to provide students with a study pathway in English followed by vocational programs which are jointly delivered. Successful students graduate with English language proficiency and have the opportunity to further their education at an Advanced Diploma level. They are then eligible to apply for advanced standing into one of the Australian universities recognising TAFE NSW qualifications. Students embarking upon this pathway would also be eligible for Chinese awards of higher vocational qualifications from NCC.
Hong Kong - YMCA College of Continuing Education
TAFE NSW - Western Sydney Region has been in partnership with the YMCA College of Continuing Education (YMCA–CCE) in Hong Kong since 2004. The College aims to provide various quality continuing education programmes to meet the needs of the changing society. YMCA believes in improving people’s quality of life through enriching their spirit, body and mind and aspires to deliver learning opportunities to secondary school leavers or graduates, working people, professionals and adults.
TAFE Western Sydney is currently in the process of offering two TAFE NSW Hospitality program in collaboration with our offshore partner in Thailand. The combined TAFE Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery and Diploma of Hospitality program will give Thai students the opportunity to complete both Australian courses in 1 ½ years.
This is a Thai focused unit program supported by WSI in collaboration with our offshore partner. The program commences with the Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery, an intensive course that equips participants with the required knowledge to work successfully in various kitchen settings as supervisor/team leader. The program then moves into the Diploma of Hospitality., which assist students to develop sound knowledge of industry operations and managerial skills needed to coordinate hospitality operations.
IEAA/ILTE Turkey (TAFE Turkey)
Western Sydney Institute entered into contract with IEAA/ILTE Turkey (TAFE Turkey) to offer TAFE NSW qualifications to students in Turkey. English and vocational education and training are emerging priority as Turkey seeks to address domestic skill shortages. The partnership between WSI and IEAA/ILTE will provide international qualifications as well as short term training of skill sets to students and workforce in Turkey.
Hainan College of Foreign Studies (HCFS)
Western Sydney Institute will deliver Diploma of Hospitality and Diploma of Travel and Tourism jointly with Hainan College of Foreign Studies in China. The joint delivery of TAFE programs in Hospitality and Tourism coincide with the economy development in Hainan province and prepare the workforce to compete in globalization.
