ENDEAVOUR MOBILITY GRANT - PHILIPPINES
The Commonwealth Government through its Endeavour Mobility Grant Initiative has provided short-term grant for five of our local hairdressing students to undertake study in the Philippines.
The mobility grant students, who have just returned from Manila, assisted experienced hairdressing teacher, Ms Denise Xidias and Hair Aid leading hairdressers to teach locals who live on the streets in Quezon City to cut hair so they could earn a living of their new skills.
The overseas experience has exposed our students to people from different cultural, allowed them to gain valuable working experience and leadership skills that will enhance their studies.
The experience has also given the students the opportunity to meet incredible people along the way.

The Australian Government through the Department of Education and Training is committed to providing support to students to study overseas as part of their Australian qualification.
We are pleased to announce that WSI has been successful in applying for funding for fifteen WSI Hairdressing and Information Technology students to undertake short-term mobility projects in the Philippines and Vanuatu.
YMCA-CCE Inbound Students
TAFE NSW Western Sydney Institute (TAFE WSI) and YMCA College of Continuing Education (YMCA-CCE) in Hong Kong have been partners in education since 2004. Each year students at YMCA-CCE studying in the fields of Hospitality Management and Travel and Tourism Management are given an opportunity to apply for the joint scholarship program. The recipients are selected by YMCA , the criterion is based on their commitment to their studies, their learning participation and personal growth during the program.
The scholarship offers the students the opportunity to travel to Australia and participate in furthering their studies and activities related to their chosen TAFE WSI qualifications.. This year 3 YMCA CCE students were awarded the scholarship.
Graduation in Ningbo
A Graduation ceremony was held at Ningbo City College of Vocational Technology.150 students from a 5 year program at Ningbo Foreign Affairs School and approximately 80 students from the post-secondary 3 year program at Ningbo City College received a TAFE NSW Advanced Diploma in Accounting, Marketing and IT and a Chinese Higher Vocational Diploma. Mr Robin Shreeve, Institute Director and Ms Mui Cook, International Education Director from TAFE WSI attended the ceremony in Ningbo, China. The graduation marks a successful partnership between WSI and Ningbo. Both parties expect growth of the joint delivery programs with a new international campus to be established near Hangzhou Bay in Ningbo by the end of the year.

Success for Filipino Students in Western Sydney
Fourteen students from the Philippines were congratulated recently after completing their studies at TAFE NSW – Western Sydney Institute. The achievements of these students, along with a total of 50 international students from 17 countries were acknowledged and celebrated at the International Student Farewell Ceremony at Blacktown College on June 22.
Mount Druitt hosts Korean study tour
Twelve Korean high school students have improved their electrical engineering and English language skills thanks to a recent collaborative TAFE NSW study tour. The students were from Gwangju Automatic Equipment Technical High School in Korea, a school which specialises in training young technicians to manage and maintain automated equipment.
TAFE graduates from NFAS study in Australian Universities
The transnational education cooperation between TAFE NSW Western Sydney Region and Ningbo Foreign Affairs School (NFAS) and Ningbo City College of Vocational Technology (NCC) commenced in September 2011 with the initial delivery of various TAFE NSW qualifications including English language, Accounting, Marketing, Logistics and Informational Technology.
